me, the brand.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately, as I start this blog, about how to market myself. I am overly ambitious, as the name of this site implies, and I love so many things that the biggest challenges for me have been where to start and what to share.

I’m not your typical over-sharer, posting EVERYTHING on Facebook. For me personally, that wouldn’t be a healthy habit.

Call it self-centered if you will, but I do love to share the things I think are cool, or a thrifty, or a diamond in the rough. I think that’s the biggest thing for me really. I love to collect moments and small things that mean a lot to me. I hope that by sharing them with you, they will mean something to you too.

The juxtaposition here, is that so many people share what they want people to see, or sometimes accidentally share what they don’t, all the while not valuing themselves in real life.

Ultimately, I think to succeed in business, or even in life in general, we need to market ourselves. Doing something like compiling a resume or writing a bio should be introspective but succinct. Why do you want to know me? What do I have to offer? How do each of my parts make up a whole that is valuable to others?

Of course, the moral of the story is that we also need to ask ourselves, in this pseudo self-effacing society we live in, what do I mean to myself? Why am I worth showing the true part of me to myself? How can I make my life mean more to me than anyone else?

So this is why I am starting this blog. To get to know myself better, and maybe to share that piece of me with you in a way that will be touching, useful, voyeuristic, or fun.

I look forward to getting to know us 🙂
